📸 What You'll Do
- Perform a variety of technical radiologic procedures using standard and specialized x-ray equipment.
- Assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients' illnesses and injuries.
- Transfer, position, and instruct patients to achieve desired radiographic results.
- Provide radiation protection to unaffected areas of the body using lead shields.
- Calculate and select proper technical factors based on patient specifics.
- Assist physicians in specialized examinations, including preparing syringes and contrast media.
- Operate x-ray equipment and review processed films for diagnostic quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work area and examination rooms.
- Understand and practice ALARA principles of Radiation Protection.
- Provide guidance to students or other unit personnel in methods, techniques, and procedures.
Qualifications
- Registration through the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists.
- Two years of formal training in an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
- Current and valid license from the Department of Health to practice in Rhode Island.
- Ability to operate all types of x-ray and related equipment.
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients under stress.
- Knowledge and skills to provide care considering aging processes and cultural patterns.
- Between one and three months of orientation and on-the-job training required.
