📸 What You'll Do

  • Meet, greet, and provide understandable explanations of radiologic examinations to patients to reduce apprehension.
  • Ensure safety and comfort of all patients in accordance with prescribed standards.
  • Schedule patients for radiologic examinations efficiently to ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Process radiographic images using CR Readers and scan them to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for physician review.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures with a sound understanding of anatomical positioning, physiology, and technical factors to produce optimum results.
  • Scan documents into Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and PACS when applicable.
  • Operate fixed radiographic equipment in the Radiology Department and transport and operate portable radiographic equipment on nursing units.
  • Assist physicians and physician assistants in the administration of opaque contrast media and process exposed radiographic images as required.
  • Maintain orderliness, cleanliness, and adequate supplies for assigned areas, rotating within the department and by shift as required, including weekends and holidays.
  • Participate in the training and instruction of radiologic technology for staff radiographers and students.

Qualifications

  • Completion of formal training in an AMA-approved accredited school of radiologic technology or equivalent.
  • Maintain a current license to work in the State of Rhode Island.
  • Must hold current ARRT certification.
  • Ability to consistently meet job accountabilities: critical thinking, interpersonal skills, team membership, customer focus, initiative, and reliability.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the lifespan with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns.
  • Successful completion of clinical experience required for certification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff at all levels, displaying empathy towards all patients.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals, physicians’ offices, and ancillary healthcare enterprises.
  • Ability to work with medical equipment and have direct patient contact, adhering to established safety procedures and precautions.
  • Ability to lift and position patients and lift supplies up to 50 pounds.
