📸 What You'll Do
- Explain the nature of each test procedure to patients to alleviate fears and anxieties.
- Assist patients in assuming the correct anatomical position for imaging.
- Calculate and administer correct dosages of radiopharmaceuticals via various methods.
- Operate gamma cameras and scanners to produce diagnostic images.
- Calibrate and conduct quality control checks on all equipment used within the department.
- Perform administrative tasks such as preparing patient charts and scheduling tests.
- Participate in the Nuclear Medicine training program by demonstrating clinical techniques to students.
- Maintain order and cleanliness of examination and laboratory areas.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited training program in Nuclear Medicine Technology is required.
- Licensure for operating SPECT/CT or PET/CT equipment in Rhode Island, if applicable.
- Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or Nuclear Medicine Technologists’ Certification Board.
- Current CPR certification from AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers.
- Interpersonal skills to effectively interface with patients and staff.
- Analytical ability to calculate and prepare radiopharmaceutical isotopes.
- Ability to operate all modern Nuclear Medicine equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide care considering aging processes and cultural patterns.
